Role Description
The Material Metrology Division at Nova is looking for a highly technical and motivated Sr. Electrical Engineer to support our growth in the semiconductor material metrology segment in Fremont, CA. You will have the opportunity to develop electronics, firmware, and controllers for metrology systems, where your embedded system design skills can be fully utilized. You will participate in a team of electrical and firmware engineers and work directly with scientists to deliver innovative solutions from research pathfinding to product realization.
Pay Range: $120,000- $165,000 Annually (DOE)

Responsibilities
- Design the electrical architecture for next-generation semiconductor metrology platforms, with an emphasis on high-voltage power systems and associated cabling, encompassing mixed-signal and digital circuit design. Responsibilities also include embedded systems, microcontrollers, etc.
- Lead the full lifecycle of PCBA development, including specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic creation, layout, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing. Ensure comprehensive documentation of design requirements, power budgets, and validation plans.
- Collaborate closely with senior technical leads, scientists, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products, ensuring on-time launches that align with project timelines and objectives.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering. MS degree preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have demonstrated ability to build complex electrical systems.
- Proficient in electrical CAD tools and PCBA design workflow. Altium experience required.
- Proficient in mixed-signal and digital circuit design.
- Familiar with embedded design and development in C/C++ preferred.
- Proficient in diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques at both the component and system level, utilizing oscilloscopes, waveform generators, and other lab equipment.
- Strong expertise in complex system-level debugging and root cause analysis.
- Ability to generate comprehensive test plans for functional, verification, and validation testing, and execute test scripts (e.q. C# or Python) for various test phases.
