Role Description
Nova is seeking a Director of Data Analytics Software to lead the development of a data analytics platform that expands the value customers derive from our advanced metrology tools. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering.
The Director will own the creation and extension of a product that leverages divisional tool data to deliver actionable insights, productivity improvements, and measurable business value for semiconductor manufacturers. This position is unique in its combination of small-team agility, deep technical ownership, and the use of a Python-driven Big Data application that enables targeted feature development.
This role interfaces cross-divisionally with other platform teams, collaborates with the tool software team, and partners closely with Marketing and divisional leadership to align priorities and roadmap execution. It offers the opportunity to define both architecture and strategy while remaining directly engaged in feature delivery.
Pay Range: $290,000- $320,000 Annually (DOE)
Responsibilities
- Manage a small, multidisciplinary team of developers, testers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers, driving Agile implementation and delivery of defined features.
- Own the system architecture of a Python-driven, multi-server Big Data application, ensuring changes support feature requirements without compromising overall design integrity.
- Become familiar with product portfolio system requirements to propose optimized high-value ML solutions.
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap in collaboration with Marketing, Product Line Directors, and the development team, balancing priorities with technical feasibility.
- Lead the end-to-end development of prioritized features, shepherding them from definition through release.
- Identify, capture, and resolve gaps or issues that would otherwise be missed, ensuring robust and reliable software delivery.
- Collaborate cross-divisionally to align platform strategies and leverage shared learning across business units.
- Promote and implement best practices in Agile software development, continuous integration, and system testing.
- Guide the team toward measurable performance improvements, mentoring individuals and fostering career growth.
- Represent the Data Analytics Software team in executive discussions, customer engagements, and technical reviews.
Requirements
- PhD degree, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, SW Engineering, or related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in software development, with significant leadership experience managing small-to-medium sized teams.
- Proven expertise in Python development and architectural design for multi-server, Big Data applications.
- Strong skills in time management, cross-functional execution, and people leadership.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute product roadmaps in collaboration with Marketing and business leadership.
Nice to have
- Experience with Big Data systems, machine learning, or AI-driven analytics.
- Background in the semiconductor, metrology, or instrumentation industries.
- Familiarity with distributed system deployment.
- Experience collaborating across divisions or business units in a global organization.
