Role Description
Nova is looking for an experienced Product Engineer to own product integration, qualification, and engineering readiness of complex semiconductor metrology systems across the product lifecycle. The role connects R&D, Engineering, Production, and Service, turning multidisciplinary hardware and software into a stable, maintainable, and field-ready product.
As a Product Engineer, you will take system-level ownership from development integration through release and post-release support. You will drive configuration control, verification and validation, product documentation, technical handovers, troubleshooting, and cross-functional closure of product issues. The role suits a hands-on engineer who combines strong system thinking with execution and ownership.
Responsibilities
- Lead system integration, verification, validation, and qualification across hardware and software domains.
- Own product configuration and engineering readiness, including hardware/software version integration, BOM configuration, and release qualification.
- Define, maintain, and improve integration and service deliverables such as integration test procedures (ITPs), acceptance test procedures (ATPs), fault-isolation flows, and technical documentation.
- Drive installation and qualification of beta and pre-FAI systems, including structured handover to Production and Service.
- Support the full product lifecycle from specification and integration through troubleshooting, release, change implementation, and post-release support.
- Lead root-cause analysis and system-level troubleshooting of complex multidisciplinary issues; translate findings into corrective actions and product improvements.
- Serve as an engineering escalation point for Production and Field Service, coordinating cross-functional experts through closure.
- Plan and deliver technical training and knowledge transfer for Engineering, Production, and Service teams, including train-the-trainer activities.
- Lead cross-functional integration activities and technical escalations while balancing product performance, quality, schedule, and serviceability.
- Use data analysis and automation tools to improve qualification efficiency, failure analysis, and engineering decision-making.
Requirements
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience with complex multidisciplinary hardware/software systems, including development integration, system testing, qualification, or product engineering.
- Proven hands-on capability in system verification, troubleshooting, and structured root-cause analysis.
- Strong system-level thinking and the ability to understand interactions among hardware, software, mechanics, electronics, and application performance.
- Hands-on proficiency with Python or MATLAB for engineering data analysis, test automation, or troubleshooting.
- Ability to lead technical activities across multiple functions in a matrix environment and drive issues to closure.
- Fluent English and strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
Advantages
- Experience with semiconductor equipment, metrology, process-control, or other high-complexity capital equipment.
- Experience with optics or optical measurement systems.
- Experience with product configuration management, engineering change processes, BOM ownership, and controlled product releases.
- Experience supporting systems from R&D introduction through production ramp and customer deployment.
- Experience developing technical procedures, service documentation, training material, or qualification infrastructure.
That special something you bring
- High ownership and a hands-on, can-do approach.
- Excellent technical orientation, system perspective, and attention to detail.
- Data-driven problem solving and the persistence to close complex issues.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to create alignment across R&D, Engineering, Production, and Service.
- Independence, prioritization, and sound judgment in a dynamic product environment.
- Fast learning and the ability to turn technical knowledge into repeatable processes and organizational capability.
