Role Description
The Global Business Group at Nova is looking for an Application Scientist who is a highly technical, motivated individual to support our growth in the metrology market. The Application Engineer is someone who will engage with Nova customers to develop high-value, innovative optical metrology applications in semiconductor manufacturing; apply robust statistical techniques to optimize applications for the high-volume manufacturing (HVM) fab environment: and provide region support for new product introduction, evaluation (beta, head-to-head) and new tool qualification activities.

Responsibilities
- Develop metrology solutions and supply on-site application support and metrology solutions to End users in CMP, CVD, Grinding, Bonding and stacking process groups.
- To establish good technical relationship (and good communication channel) with customers, have comprehensive understanding of their process and issues.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of the semiconductor industry, including future changes and trends.
- Remain involved and up to date with new metrology applications and products.
- Perform pre-sale demonstrations and presentations to customers.
- Help in developing new and current applications in close coordination with Nova Germany and/or other subsidiaries.
- Provide sales support and sales related information to the marketing group. Help gather next generation metrology needs and effectively communicate to HQ.
- Travel and support whole US sites for evaluations, periodic application activities, and tool acceptance activities.

- A strong background in metrology technologies, especially optical technologies highly desired Identify and lead penetration efforts with new products to increase the Nova market share.
- Must be able to work independently and also in team setting.
- Good communication skills.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering or relevant experience. Minimum 2 years of experience with semiconductor process (wafer packaging, lithography, CMP, deposition, wet and dry etch), metrology, or inspection is preferred.
- Must be able travel both domestically and internationally (initial training for up to 1 month) and support activities. Travel time estimated 20-35%
- Strong analytical skills multi-tasking, good attitude, and high EQ.
- Proficient in English, both writing and verbal communications.
